Now that you’ve received your raw drum tracks as WAV files from an online session drummer, how should you proceed when it’s time to mix? In this series of short tutorials, I will outline several important processing concepts. in mind that if you ask 99 Engineers how to mix a drum track, you’ll definitely receive 100 differing opinions on what’s right and what’s wrong. The bottom line is that if it sounds good, it is good. You should do whatever needs to be done to convey the emotion of a performance. I will also assume most of you will be using a DAW (Pro Tools, DP, Logic, Reaper, etc…) of some sort. That said, here are some tips on gating drum tracks.

When you use a sound gate you’re essentially silencing sections of audio that have no important information (aka bleed) so as to present a more cleanly defined track. For example, you may want to gate the tom tracks so that they are heard only when they are hit, as opposed to howling sympathetically whenever the snare is hit. If this bothers you, simply gate the toms. By silencing audio on the track when the toms are not being struck, you’ll produce a cleaner and tighter drum track overall. You can do this by using a noise gate as an insert (hardware or software plug-in) or by drawing down the volume via automation in a DAW or even muting whole sections in between actual hits. Each technique produces a different effect on the overall sound, so experiment with your drum tracks and see what works for you. Some guys will gate all drum tracks but the overheads, hi-hats and room mics. This can be great for Funk, R and B, and Progressive Rock. Always take time to experiment.

Conversely, some engineers feel that drums should ring freely and by gating you run the risk of killing the “vibe” of a drum kit being played by a real drummer in a real room. I won’t argue this point as it’s a valid one, but the decision to gate drum tracks or not depends entirely on the type of material being performed and what you’re going for on an aesthetic level. With that said, I probably wouldn’t gate anything for a traditional Jazz number or anything requiring a Bonham-esque vibe. In this case, the ringing and overtones produced by having all the microphones wide open contribute to the overall presence of the kit and the air that surrounds each element can make for a huge sounding drum track. Although no approach is ideal for all circumstances, this would certainly be the most “natural” sounding approach. Think of gating as tight and dry while not gating as big and airy. Have fun and experiment.

Look for more of my drum track processing tutorials in the future. This series of tutorials will help you with compression, parallel compression, ambiance, and equalization of drum tracks.

The new movie Bronsons trailer has a classical music part in it. My question is: what is it called?

Making Friends

A most wonderful choice you possibly can make is the decision to learn to play a musical instrument. This can be a life-altering experience.  Now, that may seem farfetched, but I assure you it is not really.  The rewards for anyone and particularly for an awkward adolescent are enormous.  It is an excellent technique for building confidence both in a person’s capability to follow through and accomplish a task as well as strengthens a person’s capacity to concentrate.  Also, it is an outstanding creator of friendships and interactions within a social circle.  Moreover, if that were not good enough, you could generate extra income or perhaps a living out of learning how to play a musical instrument such as bass guitar.

While natural talent is useful, it is not completely needed to attain confidence from playing a musical instrument such as beginners guitar, bass or percussion.  There are lots of so-called band members, who exhibit self-confidence, but who are not necessarily good players.  Even so, they sure are confident.

Learning how to play an instrument just naturally creates self-confidence as the beginning musician becomes more successful at learning the various skills desired.  When you rehearse a section of music for a long time and are finally competent to play it, you feel good about it.  You are frequently ecstatic to have conquered such a musical passage.  Succeeding like that provides you with a “high” like what runners experience when they are in flow.  Same thing occurs you meet a challenge musically.   It is addicting.  But this is in a good way.  Furthermore, as time goes by, you have more of these experiences and your self-belief increases and grows.  Later, when you might play with individuals in a group or band situation, self-confidence will develop exponentially if you proceed to rehearse vigilantly.

Practicing songs aids you to strengthen the ability to concentrate.  You have to run through parts, riffs, or licks repeatedly to literally have the ability to play them.  It takes much focus to get this done.  When you are rehearsing, you will often find you lose complete perception of time.  Before you know it even when you only meant to sit down for 15 minutes, several hours have passed.  This skill could be carried over into other areas of living in which you want to buckle down and get a specific thing completed.

When the beginning musician has achieved a certain level, he, or she may wish to perform in a band or group of some sort.  These are wonderful exercises in learning to deal with other people.  The connections you might often form with various musicians will on occasion last a lifetime.  In other cases, they can provide wonderful antidotes and experiences you will carry with you throughout life.  Musicians who have played music with each other form many great friendships.  The interactions may be compared to those created by players on sports teams.

Typically, if you rehearse hard, a person could possibly make some cash, or possibly a living off the musical skills.  This yet again is a superb confidence builder.  In addition, the extra income comes in invaluable.  And if you are exceedingly talented, you might be able to make it to the “big show,” as players from the largest rock and roll artists touring the world know it.

If you are interested in being a professional music performer, you ought to take up learning an instrument that could be performed within a pop or rock music group.  This is where most work can be found and where most of the income is produced in the music industry.  Oboe is probably not going to cut it consequently do not learn that.  We recommend guitar, drums, keyboards, or bass.  We are particularly keen on the electric bass guitar.  In the event you decide to learn the bass, you will require the very best bass amp you can obtain for your skill level.  An Ashdown bass amp could be a very good choice for any beginning bass player or one at a expert level.  They are user friendly and rather economical for all the tone and sound versatility you get.

Many people think that jazz is the music of the elite and well-established people. But, if you look into the roots of jazz, you will see the opposite. Jazz is an art of expression in the form of music. Jazz music is the fundamental music in human life.

Jazz music was born from the creative hands of black people who experienced oppression and slavery in America in the late 18th century. Expression of a resistance against the racist and oppressive political system was manifested in the way of black Americans to play their music.

The interesting thing from jazz music was that the origin of the word “jazz” was derived from a vulgar term used for sexual acts. Most of rhythms in jazz were ever associated with the brothels and the women with an unfortunate reputation.

Jazz music is a symbol of freedom, hope and the skills of show ones self in through one of best art forms which is music. Meaning, African American citizens fought oppression since the beginning of slavery, and this music represented that resistance. Jazz music has a foundation of the basic rules of composition, but it has since expanded its way toward newer forms of music.

Jazz legend began in New Orleans and grew into the Mississippi River, Memphis, St. Louis, and finally Chicago. Of course, jazz was influenced by music in New Orleans, African tribal drums and the structure of European-style music. Jazz background could not be separated from the facts in which jazz was influenced by a variety of music such as spiritual music, cakewalks, ragtime and blues.

One of jazz legends who was believed was the legend around 1891. An owner of hair shaving shop in New Orleans, named Buddy Bolden blew his cornet and the time became the beginning of jazz music as a new breakthrough in the music world. Half a century later, American jazz music gave many contributions to the world of music. Jazz was also studied at university, and eventually became a serious music and was calculated by the world of music.

In the year 1921 there were U.S citizens who did not favor Jazz music or the Jazz dance. There were activist who stated that Jazz is a variety of menace that is worse that alcohol, and that it would be better to wipe Jazz out of existence. In Germany, Jazz and all other American music was banned in the land before and after American citizens joined the war. Stalin forbid the playing of music at the finish of the 1945 war throughout the Soviet Union, and banned the application of saxophones. Jazz was called “the music of blacks by Hitler as a contributing factor for the prohibition of Jazz music. However, this music was embraced by all who heard it around the planet.

The influence and development of blues music could not be left when discussing jazz music in the early years of its development. Expressions that shined when playing the blues were in line with the style of jazz. The ability to play the blues music became the standard for all jazz musicians, especially to be used in improvisation.

Blues music itself, which was originated from the southern region, had a very broad history. Blues players usually used guitar, piano, and harmonica, or played together in a group who played his own musical instruments.

Jazz music that was rooted in the blues, evolved into New Orleans, RAG time, boogie woogie, dixie and swing. Then, in the early decades of the 1940s, jazz entered be bop era. Be bop music was the outlet of the Negro protest in the United States. The atmosphere of World War II made all of society and the musicians frustrated.

I like to listen to classical music, but everytime I go to iTunes and try to find some pieces by Mozart or Beethoven I just get overwhelmed by exactly how much there is. What symphonies or movements do you suggest I check out first?

One of the oldest and most expressive styles of music is the blues. In some form or another, blues music has been an inspiration to nearly every guitar player If you’re studying the guitar and you’re interested in becoming more well-rounded in your musical skills, some lessons in blues guitar may teach you how to inject your feelings into your music. Iconic guitar players from B.B. King to Chuck Berry, and from Eric Clapton to Johnny Winter are all well known in the world of blues music

Your blues guitar lessons will include instruction on various techniques, scales and licks, all of which is an essential part of good blues playing and will add a extra flavor to your repertoire of songs. These days there are plenty of ways you can get a good understanding of blues music, the internet being just one of them. Getting a good guitar coach who is well-versed in blues music and techniques is one way to get started, and you’ll get plenty of one-to-one training that way, but if you’re interested in an online learning experience, then a quick search in google will produce lots of online videos to help you study blues guitar.

Anyone that is new to playing the blues and are finding it somewhat difficult to get the hang of the techniques may be well-served to take some lessons or introductory courses. You can also find numerous free videos that will show you the fundamentals before advancing to more difficult techniques and music.

One of the backbone lessons in blues guitar playing is learning the 12 bar blues. This is one of the most commonly heard blues scales ever played, and once you master it you will have a good basic understanding of blues guitar playing, When you play in the key of E, the basic chords you will use are E7, A7, and B7. You will eventually become a more well-rounded guitar player once you have memorized the order of these chords and how long to play each one to get the maximum result. Any guitar player will benefit from beginning with these chords – even those who don’t want to specialize in blues music – as the chord progression can be used in a number of different kinds of music.

When you have this chord progression memorized, you can move on to something known as a turnaround lick. Played as part of a blues progression, this so-called “lick” is used on the last two bars. And while this specific lick sounds especially cool on an electric guitar, it also sounds good on an acoustic.

For more advanced guitar players, there are blues guitar lessons that can give you instruction on how to play just like one of the all-time greats, Stevie Ray Vaughn. Before long you’ll be re-creating the sounds of this legendary guitarist with the use of some vibrato and bends, mixed in with chord progressions.

The free lessons online make blues guitar playing very accessible and easy to understand for all levels of guitarists. These lessons will teach you all the coveted blues guitar-playing tricks, from licks in the key of E to blues turnarounds in the key of A, as well as a G Mixolydian and triads. And the best part of all is that when you study online, you never need to wait for your teacher to arrive!

Mixtapes  will never   stop   .  The fans   love to get  free  songs   from there favorite   emcee    . Rappers  also utilize  the mixtape game  to  stay  relevant . If  audiences   don’t hear from you  in a long time, sometimes  that MC     name will die  if you  didn’t have any skills . Mixtapes are essential  ï»¿ to stopping that from happening  ï»¿ . “How To Be An MC” was a mixtape series started  ï»¿ by producer named “J.Armz.” This producer ï»¿ has been distributing instrumentals  for up and coming artist  to use.  found    another mixtape series that’s equal to “J.Armz.” This mixtape is called “How 2 Be An Emcee” it was created ï»¿ by an emcee  ï»¿  ï»¿ named “Kurty Durty.” Instead of creating   ï»¿ a whole mixtape full with beats , he raps over the ï»¿ beats  provided by “J.Armz.”  Kurty Durty   is a veryskilled  rapper ,I can I can see this kid   with a  major deal   in the near future. Mixtapes  can   help further your  music    in a  major   way. Take the new artist  J.Cole   for an example. he started with one mixtape, it was so good, that it landed him a deal . I’m sure it happened for more than just him, but he blew up within  a couple months. If that isn’t inspiration, then I don’t know what is. Mixtapes are very crucial to boosting your career. You want to make a good impression the first time, don’t just throw out any home made music. Make sure the music  sounds some what    professional, I recommend using pro tools to record it . What I don’t recommend is giving away free distorted music , where all the levels   on the verses are off. You want the audience to come back to your music, not run away.

You can builda wide fan base with one mixtape. Let’s be honest, people love free music, that’s why they download it. Don’t be afraid to give away free music, take Lil Wayne for an example. Lil Wayne has given away tons of free music and remains the most relevant rapper in the game currently. Mixtapes are a big key to your success, don’t sell yourself short. I can assure you that using website like “www.datpiff.com” and www.thatcrack.com will create you a good buzz in the industry.Making it in music right now is not an easy task, everybody wants to be a rapper. Everybody wants to be a rapper, but everybody can’t rap, it’s as simple as that. The reason it’s so hard because A&R’s are tired of running into the ones that can’t rap. It makes it hard for the ones that can rap. Every once in a while, a hot MC get his big break, but not very often. If you have raw talent and actually believe you can make it, then don’t stop for no one. Continue to pursue your dream, I’m rooting for you.
