I guess it set the foundation for class and respect.  Like if someone likes respectful, classy music, they may listen to what they call real art...Baroque Music.
Bach played Baroque music, and he is one who is noted for his music...he is in the category of fine music along w/ Beethoven I think.
I guess it kind of set the standards for listening to compositions without lyrics today.  To be able to enjoy a symphony.
I&#039;m sure even before Baroque music, this was present, but this falls into the category.
I guess within society, music, careers, and family life it all fits in under setting time aside to listen to classical music, or what some people call a masterpiece. 
It is to take a break from hectic lives, and spend time with the family, away from work, and all gather round and listen to the music.
The Baroque period I think was in the 1600s-1700s.
Opra probably came from this type of music as well.
A strong, but lovely sound.
