There’s a melody at 3:50 that sounds exactly like the end of the ‘no-chord’ melody in Spain.

Bach was such a plagiarizer ;)

I have to agree with you, Bach would probaly be honored that his music was played so much. But he would probaly be honored because outside of germany he was not well known at all, and even in Germany, he wasn’t very well known. Also, bach would be happier if he saw his music being played in the honor of God, because he said himself “I am a man of God before a man of music.” Bach wasn’t about the celebration of music, he was about the celebration of god. He would probally be prouder of Ave Maria.

    And to Konicki…
Yes, Bobby McFerrin is wonderful – I saw him in concert and he left us all in awe, but really, think about it… His hit made him lots of money, gave him fame and renown, and it gave the world a new mantra – telling the world to “Don’t Worry, be Happy” – something people should still remember to do!
    I don’t think he minds one bit… :)

    DarkLoveFashion,
This is one of my favorite pieces, but isn’t music about what it brings to the individual?
If Bach were here today and knew how many times his piece were played and enjoyed, he’d be honored, but if he knew that a man could lift his voice in such a way as this in celebration of his music, don’t you think he’d smile and be amazed?
McFerrin never changes the melody, he simply chose another instrument.

    DarkLoveFashion,
Please listen again. Close your eyes. Think of his voice as a musical instrument. Many pieces have been adapted for different instruments to the point where many people do not hear those pieces on the instruments they were intended for, but they still sound beautiful. In no way is this song “ruined” and in no way is it disrespectful to Bach, in my opinion. Try and listen to it again. I think by using his voice, Bobby McFerrin adds an additional emotional quality to this piece.

Hello I am a violinist and the truth without wanting to offend anyone. I think it is very bad to ruin one of the most beautiful melodies that have been created. I think that if Bach had it in a way we should respect their work. And what about the guy who plays with great skill is his voice. But it does not sound well with this melody. Greetings!

Bobby Mcferrin is a musical genius. It’s a shame he’s always gonna be remembered as the “Don’t Worry be Happy” guy.

McFerrin’s just a human being and Bach is more than spiritual. This music is absolutely free and timeless. Thank you for posting this video.
