And I don’t mean nostalgic as in “i heard mozart’s 40th symphony when i was a little kid and listening to it now is so nostalgic”. I mean pieces that are in and of themselves nostalgic, and don’t tell me it’s not possible because iv had it happen and in those cases im certain that i hadn’t previously heard the music before! hmmm… i wonder how composers are able create that kind of musical effect….

What “classical” music ...

Bryan I know that listening to Mozart makes you smarter. But do other composers have the same effect as well. How bout composers like Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Schumann, Ravel or Holst?SEO Services

How do I convince someone classical....

Meli So many people think classical music is boring, but yet they hear Beethoven's 5th symphony and get all excited (cuz they actually know the tune), how can I explain to someone that all classical music has its own uniqueness and excitement just like Beethoven's 5th, all they have to do is listen ...

The first time I heard ‘Echoes’ from Pink Floyd I felt like I had heard it before, like in another life or something, it was almost as if I had heard it in my head and then someone had put it into a song. That song is so amazing, its almost as if you’re going on this incredible journey. So many Pink Floyd songs can just transport you to another time and place. That song is so amazing, just listen to it from start to finish and you’ll see what I mean! :)

Debussy’s L’isle Joyeux- its a nostalgic piece about a torrid love affair he had.

Also, listen to the opening of “Still Hurting” from “The Last Five Years” that melody is completely nostalgic and recurs throughout the whole musical. It also happens in “Snoopy”. Not classical, but still loverly.

I would think that the Largo slow movement from Dvoraks Ninth Symphony ‘From The New World’,would fall into that description..
From what I understand the composer fused many different ideas into this piece which some argue actually incorporates & melds together folk music & even spiritual hymns both from his native Bohemia and the new world of the title.
Buy the Berlin Philharmonic version conducted by Rafael Kubelik on the deutsche grammophon label…
